Johannesburg residents are set to experience a significant water disruption lasting approximately 50 hours, starting at 5:00 am on 30 June 2025. This interruption is part of a critical maintenance programme by Rand Water, aimed at upgrading and ensuring the long-term reliability of the city’s water supply infrastructure.

Rand Water will conduct essential repairs and maintenance on the Zwartkopjes system, a key component of Johannesburg’s bulk water supply network. After this, pumping capacity will be restored to 50% for the next 42 hours, before increasing to 80% capacity for the remaining 19 days of the broader maintenance programme.
