Gauteng has officially launched its 2026 Spring Tourism, Heritage and Transport strategy, marking the start of Tourism Month and Heritage Month with a province wide campaign aimed at encouraging travel, supporting local businesses and showcasing the province’s diverse visitor experiences. The initiative was announced by Visit Gauteng on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, and forms part of the Gauteng Tourism, Heritage and Transport Months Strategic Programme and Go to Market Plan 2026.

World Tourism Month will be celebrated throughout September 2026, giving South Africans an opportunity to explore the country’s diverse attractions while recognising tourism’s contribution to economic growth, job creation and community development. Ahead of the awards ceremony, the Tshwane Tourism Association has introduced the independent judging panel and explained how finalists were assessed through a structured, evidence based evaluation process. According to the association, the awards are designed to recognise excellence based on measurable achievements rather than public popularity.
