    The Vaal River Carnival 2026 will bring more than two months of entertainment, sport, arts and cultural experiences to the Vaal from 28 August to 4 October 2026. Hosted across multiple venues in the Emfuleni Local Municipality, the programme includes comedy, theatre, music festivals, sporting events, fashion showcases, cycling, marathon races and family friendly experiences. Organisers say the carnival aims to promote tourism, celebrate local talent and showcase the Vaal as one of Gauteng’s leading leisure and lifestyle destinations.     3rd Sedibeng Arts Showcase

    Eldorado Arts Centre

    The annual showcase provides a platform for emerging and established theatre practitioners while celebrating performing arts and community creativity in the Vaal.

    Majesty Comics

    Sharpeville Precinct

    This new event combines an African Spirituality Festival with the launch of Naledi Part 2, creating a platform for storytelling, music, poetry, dance and indigenous knowledge.

    Vaal Pride by the River

    Caravan Park

    Returning for its fifth edition, the festival celebrates LGBTQ+ pride, inclusion and community while supporting charitable initiatives in the region. According to the organisers, last year’s event sold approximately 1,500 tickets and benefited several local businesses.

    Another new addition, Lekompo La Vaal celebrates Limpopo’s vibrant music culture while creating a large scale cultural event for students, residents and visitors.

    Emfuleni Park

    A new outdoor lifestyle event combining music, recreation and the scenic surroundings of the Vaal River.

    F1 Powerboat Race

    Emerald Casino

    One of the carnival’s headline sporting attractions, Formula One powerboat racing returns to the Vaal River after previously disappearing from the calendar. The event features elite powerboat competitors alongside junior and development racing categories.
