Ultra South Africa returns to Johannesburg on 25 April 2026, with organisers confirming ticket pricing, access routes and traffic management plans ahead of the large-scale event at the Expo Centre in Nasrec. The festival, which attracts thousands of attendees annually, will take place under strict transport and access guidelines, with authorities urging early arrival due to expected congestion. For Gauteng residents and visitors, the event is expected to impact traffic flow across major routes while drawing significant crowds to one of the province’s busiest event precincts.

The Johannesburg leg forms part of a two-city schedule, with Cape Town hosting the second event on 26 April.

Traffic Plan and Access Routes in Place

A detailed traffic management plan has been implemented for the Johannesburg event, with restricted access points to control congestion.

    Key access rules:

    • North: Use N1 highway and Rand Show Road off-ramp (M79) only
    • South: Use N1 South, then R553 Golden Highway, exiting at Nasrec Road
    • East: Use M1 highway, exiting only at Nasrec Road
    • West: Use Rand Show Road crossover bridge from Soweto

    Organisers have stated that:

    • There is no access via the N17 or M70 (Soweto Highway)
    • A designated Safety Zone will be enforced around parking areas
    • Only ticket holders will be allowed into controlled zones

Drop-offs and pick-ups must take place within designated safety areas.

Why Early Arrival is Being Emphasised

Event organisers have advised attendees to arrive before 16:30 to avoid peak congestion.

    This is due to:

    • High attendance volumes
    • Limited access routes into the venue
    • Increased traffic between 17:00 and 20:00

Late arrivals may experience delays due to traffic restrictions and road closures around Nasrec.

What This Means for Gauteng Residents

Ultra South Africa’s Johannesburg event is expected to affect movement across parts of the province.

    For residents:

    • Traffic congestion is likely around Nasrec and surrounding highways
    • Increased demand for transport services is expected
    • Access to certain routes may be restricted during peak hours

The event also reflects Gauteng’s role as a host for large-scale international entertainment events, which bring both economic activity and logistical challenges.

President Cyril Ramaphosa Hosts Kenyan President Ruto in Tshwane as South Africa and Kenya Seek Stronger Trade Ties

      By Nomthandazo Ntisa4 June , 2026

President Cyril Ramaphosa is hosting Kenyan President William Ruto on a State Visit to South Africa on Thursday, 4 June 2026, with discussions expected to focus on trade, investment, economic cooperation and regional development. The visit includes official talks at the Union Buildings in Tshwane and a South Africa-Kenya Business Forum at Gallagher Estate in Midrand. The engagements matter for Gauteng because the province remains South Africa’s economic hub and is likely to play a central role in future trade and investment opportunities arising from stronger bilateral relations between the two countries.
