DJ Zinhle’s Zee Nation Festival 2025 – Besties Celebrate Women’s Day with Bold Festival Fashion

The second annual Zee Nation Festival lit up Johannesburg’s Nasrec Expo Centre on 9 August 2025. It created a spectacular fusion of fashion, music, and vibrant culture to celebrate Women’s Day. Music fans and celebrities embraced the festival’s unique themed dress codes; Into the Wild, Pink, and Carnival. They brought them to life with personal style and collective creativity, especially through groups of friends known as “besties.”

    Festival Themes and Style Highlights

DJ Zinhle shared three distinct themes ahead of the event, inviting besties to express themselves playfully and boldly:

    Into the Wild

This theme channelled earthy tones and jungle vibes. It inspired festival goers to adopt exciting looks featuring animal prints, faux leather, and natural textures. Accessories such as leather belts, statement earrings, and tribal inspired hairstyles adorned with beads and feathers were common. They were complemented by golden toned makeup and occasional tribal face paint. Groups embraced the theme by creating cohesion with bold, untamed looks reflecting the wild spirit.

    Pink

The Pink theme brought a playful and flirtatious energy. Many besties donned pastel suits, hot pink minis, tulle skirts, and coordinated monochrome looks. Sequins, feathers, and sparkling accessories elevated outfits. Meanwhile, makeup leaned into glossy lips, pink blush, and shimmering eyeshadow. Besties often shared matching or complementary pink ensembles. This made for a striking visual impact that embodied celebration and femininity.

    Carnival

Carnival inspired guests with Afro-Caribbean and Brazilian festival aesthetics marked by vibrancy, movement, and bold prints. Attendees flaunted sequins, fringe, feathered head pieces, body chains, colourful sunglasses, and layered jewellery. Hairstyles included braids, bright extensions, and glittering buns, paired with dazzling makeup featuring glitter, gem stones, and metallic shimmer. Besties interpreted this theme with energetic and coordinated flamboyance, creating a festive atmosphere charged with cultural pride.

The event was not only a musical highlight but also a cultural gathering that amplified female empowerment and friendship.
