About the Position
As the Campus Head, the successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic oversight and management of the Chris Hani Nursing College. They will lead efforts in the development and implementation of educational programmes, ensure the quality of nursing education, and contribute to the overall advancement of the institution.
The role involves leadership in nursing education, policy development, quality assurance, resource management, and academic oversight. Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Implementation: Develop, implement, and monitor the campus’s strategic plans, ensuring alignment with the department’s broader goals.
- Marketing and Corporate Image: Oversee the marketing and promotion of the campus to enhance its image in the healthcare and educational sectors.
- Student Selection and Enrolment: Manage student enrolment in consultation with management and hospital Chief Executive Officers.
- Educational Programme Development: Develop and implement policies for nursing education, ensuring the provision of high-quality resources for learning and teaching.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular quality assurance assessments and oversee the setting of examinations and their results.
- Liaison with Statutory Bodies and Higher Education Institutions: Maintain strong relationships with relevant bodies to ensure that the campus meets all regulatory requirements.
- Human Resource Management: Oversee the management of support services, including human resources, student affairs, and counselling, ensuring they meet institutional needs.
- Financial Management: Ensure the proper management of financial resources and reporting.
Requirements
To be eligible for the Campus Head position, candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience requirements:
Qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree in Nursing (NQF Level 9), recognised by SAQA.
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as both a General Nurse and Midwife.
- A valid South African driver’s license.
- Computer literacy is essential.
Experience:
- A minimum of 11 years’ experience as a Professional Nurse, with at least 7 years of experience in a Nursing Education Institution after qualifying as a Nurse Educator.
- At least 3 years of experience in management roles within nursing education at a college or higher education institution.
- Demonstrated experience in educational programme development, research, and policy development.
Skills and Competencies:
- Transformational leadership and the ability to inspire and manage teams.
- Analytical skills with an aptitude for assessment and evaluation.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including presentation capabilities.
- Strong project and programme management expertise.
- Competence in financial and human resource management.
- The ability to work under pressure and manage diverse stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Campus Head will be entrusted with a variety of important duties to ensure the smooth operation of the college. These include:
- Strategic and Operational Planning: Leading and overseeing the campus’s strategic and operational planning processes to ensure that the college continues to grow and meet the demands of nursing education.
- Institutional Performance: Monitoring and reporting on institutional performance, ensuring that academic and administrative processes meet high standards.
- Quality Management Systems: Directing the quality management systems to ensure that all aspects of the college’s operations adhere to the highest standards.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, universities, and other healthcare institutions.
