The City of Johannesburg is offering a career opportunity for a Registry Clerk within the Group Finance Department. This short-term contract position, based at Thuso House in Braamfontein, offers a competitive salary of R28,315.59 per month (all-inclusive, no benefits).
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing administrative support and ensuring the effective management of documents and information systems.
Key Responsibilities
The Registry Clerk will be responsible for the following key tasks:
- Document and Information Management: Classifying, registering, scanning, and saving all records and documents into the electronic system.
- Filing and Retrieval: Efficiently managing the filing system, ensuring quick retrieval of documents and timely disposal of obsolete files.
- Administrative Support: Assisting with general office administration tasks to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Compliance Reporting: Submitting monthly compliance reports to the Group EXCO.
- Archiving: Properly archiving documents and ensuring the accuracy of records in the mailroom.
Minimum Job Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualifications: A Grade 12 certificate and a National Diploma at NQF Level 6.
- Experience: Between 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a large unit or the public sector.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling documents and data.
- Ability to work independently, as well as within a team environment.
Core Competencies
The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:
- Knowledge of City Regulations: Familiarity with the National Archiving Act (NAA) is a plus.
- Effective Time Management: The ability to meet deadlines by efficiently managing time and prioritizing tasks.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring precision in all aspects of document management and archiving.
