    The Gauteng College of Nursing has opened applications for its 2027 Student Nurse Intake, offering qualifying South African citizens living in Gauteng the opportunity to study towards a Diploma in Nursing. Applications opened on 21 July 2026 and close on 26 September 2026. Successful applicants will receive academic training and practical clinical experience at public hospitals and healthcare facilities across the province. The programme is aimed at developing the next generation of professional nurses to strengthen Gauteng’s public healthcare system.

    Who Can Apply for the Gauteng College of Nursing Student Nurse Intake 2027?

    The programme is open to South African citizens who reside in Gauteng and meet the prescribed admission requirements.

    Applicants must:

    • Be a South African citizen.
    • Live in Gauteng Province.
    • Meet the academic admission requirements.
    • Apply online before 26 September 2026.
    • Be willing to complete both classroom learning and practical clinical training.

    According to the college, applications are accepted from candidates who hold a Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate, National Certificate Vocational in Primary Health, or current Grade 12 learners applying with their Grade 11 final results.

    Gauteng College of Nursing Campuses

    Successful applicants will be placed at one of the Gauteng College of Nursing campuses, depending on available space and the college’s placement process.

    The campuses include:

    • Ann Latsky Campus
    • Chris Hani Baragwanath Campus
    • SG Lourens Campus
    • Bonalesedi Campus

    The college said placement at a specific campus cannot be guaranteed.

    Academic Admission Requirements

    Applicants must satisfy one of the recognised qualification categories.

    National Senior Certificate

    Applicants need:

    • English Level 4
    • Life Sciences Level 4
    • Mathematics Level 4 or Mathematical Literacy Level 5
    • APS score of at least 27

    According to the admission requirements, Life Orientation contributes only half of its value towards the APS calculation.

    Senior Certificate

    Applicants require:

    • English Higher Grade D or Standard Grade C
    • Biology Higher Grade D or Standard Grade C
    • Mathematics Higher Grade D or Standard Grade C
    • M Score of 17

    National Certificate Vocational

    Applicants must obtain:

    • At least 50 percent in the required fundamental subjects.
    • At least 60 percent in the vocational subjects.

    These include:

    • South African Health Care System
    • Public Health
    • The Human Body and Mind
    • Community Oriented Primary Care

    Current Grade 12 Learners

    Learners currently completing Grade 12 may also apply.

    According to the college, applicants must use their final Grade 11 results, provided they meet the National Senior Certificate admission requirements.
