Chief Executive Officer Job Opportunity at the Odi Hospital

The Department of Health has announced an exciting job opportunity for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Odi Hospital, located in the Management Directorate. This is a five-year fixed-term contract appointment, offering a competitive remuneration package of R 1 059 105 per annum (all-inclusive). The closing date for applications is 1st August 2025.

Overview of the Position

As the CEO of Odi Hospital, the selected candidate will be responsible for leading the hospital to operational excellence, ensuring efficient service delivery, and maintaining high standards in both clinical and administrative areas. Key Responsibilities

The Chief Executive Officer at Odi Hospital will be responsible for:

Strategic Planning and Leadership

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan aligned with national and provincial priorities, particularly focusing on the National Development Plan (NDP).
  • Provide leadership to improve operational efficiency and health outcomes.
  • Represent the hospital at provincial and public forums.

Financial Management

  • Maximise revenue collection for the hospital.
  • Ensure the hospital operates within its budget, adhering to the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and relevant guidelines.
  • Oversee prudent management of financial resources, including resource mobilisation and financial reporting.

Facility and Human Resource Management

  • Ensure effective facility management, optimising the use of resources for hospital operations.
  • Manage and implement human resource policies to ensure effective and efficient utilization of staff, promoting a healthy and safe working environment.
  • Lead the training and development of personnel to improve organisational performance.

Procurement and Equipment Management

  • Oversee procurement systems to ensure that goods and services are procured in a cost-effective, transparent, and timely manner.

Clinical and Corporate Governance

  • Ensure high standards of patient care by overseeing clinical governance.
  • Manage corporate governance, including infrastructure planning, maintenance, and risk management.
  • Establish community networks and report to the Hospital Board.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of CEO at Odi Hospital, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

Qualifications

  • A Grade 12 Certificate and an appropriate Degree (NQF Level 7) in a health-related field.
  • Current registration with the relevant professional body.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Management is advantageous.

Experience

  • A minimum of three years of management experience in the public health sector.
  • Strong knowledge of health-related legislation, regulations, and policies within the public sector, particularly in hospital management.
