The Department of Health is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to fill the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Lenasia South Hospital. Key Responsibilities

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Lenasia South Hospital will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective delivery of clinical and administrative services, ensuring that the hospital operates in accordance with provincial plans and priorities.

Strategic Leadership & Planning

The CEO will provide strategic direction for the hospital, ensuring alignment with the National Development Plan (NDP) and provincial health goals. This includes preparing and implementing a strategic plan that enhances hospital performance, optimises resources, and supports patient care initiatives.

Financial & Resource Management

A core responsibility of the CEO will be financial oversight. This includes ensuring the hospital operates within its allocated budget, maximising revenue, and adhering to the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA). The role also involves effective asset and risk management, ensuring financial resources are used prudently to enhance service delivery.

Human Resource Management

The CEO will develop and implement policies for the effective utilisation of human resources, fostering a healthy and safe working environment in compliance with health legislation. Leading the development and training of personnel will also be a priority, enhancing organisational performance and building a skilled workforce.

Facility Management

Ensuring the hospital’s facilities and equipment are well-maintained and optimally utilised will be another key function. The CEO will work to establish systems and processes that ensure timely maintenance and the efficient operation of business support systems within the institution.

Clinical & Corporate Governance

The CEO will ensure that high standards of patient care are maintained, overseeing clinical governance to improve health outcomes. In addition, the role involves ensuring effective corporate governance, including infrastructure planning, maintenance, and risk management.

Procurement & Supply Management

The procurement and provisioning of hospital goods and services will be managed to ensure that the process is fair, competitive, and cost-effective. The CEO will also oversee the timely delivery of goods and services, optimising the hospital’s operational capabilities.

Requirements for the Position

Educational & Professional Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • An appropriate degree (NQF level 7) in a health-related field
  • Current registration with the relevant professional body
  • Postgraduate qualification in Management (advantageous)

Experience & Competencies

  • A minimum of three years’ management experience in public health is required.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of public sector legislations, regulations, and policies.
  • Proven experience in hospital management is essential.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with skills in strategic planning, programme and project management, financial management, and change management.
  • Excellent communication skills, a commitment to client orientation, and the ability to solve complex problems.
  • The CEO will be expected to have the capacity for service delivery innovation and an ability to empower and manage teams effectively.

Additional Requirements

  • A valid driver’s licence (with exceptions for individuals with disabilities).
  • Computer literacy is mandatory.
