Remuneration and Benefits

The position offers an all-inclusive salary package ranging from R879,342.00 to R1,323,267.00. Requirements for the Position

Educational Qualifications:

  • Candidates must possess an Engineering Degree, such as a B Eng or BSc (Eng) in Civil Engineering or a relevant qualification.
  • Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a professional engineer is essential.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification engineering experience is required.
  • Practical experience in road design and construction, coupled with strong project management knowledge, is highly preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license is a requirement for this role.
  • Applicants should be well-versed in the relevant legislative framework, including the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) policies, National Land Transport Act of 2009, and the Engineering Professional Act.
  • The ideal candidate should also have expertise in engineering design, analysis, and proficiency in computer-aided engineering applications.

  • A solid understanding of engineering principles related to road design, construction, and infrastructure management.

Duties and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for various tasks, including:

  1. Project Management Assistance:
    • The engineer will support senior engineers and road design teams in managing road construction projects. This involves overseeing activities across the field, workshop, and technical office.
  2. Compliance and Safety Promotion:
    • The engineer will promote safety on all projects, ensuring that statutory regulations and safety procedures are strictly followed.
  3. Supervision of Construction Projects:
    • The role involves supervising construction teams to ensure that projects comply with technical manuals, standard drawings, and established procedures.
  4. Budget and Expenditure Oversight:
    • One of the main responsibilities will be ensuring the effective management of project budgets and controlling expenditure to achieve efficient resource use.
  5. Skills Development and Training:
    • The engineer will facilitate skills transfer on construction sites. Additionally, they will mentor and train technicians, technologists, and candidate engineers.
  6. Reporting and Documentation:
    • The engineer will prepare progress and financial reports, documenting the status of each project and ensuring compliance with both budget and timeline.
