South African Fashion Week (SAFW) is back in Johannesburg this week with its Autumn/Winter 2027 (AW27) collections. Shows run from Tuesday, 20 October to Sunday, 25 October 2026 at The Forum, Hyde Park Corner.
Over six days, established names and new talent will show the looks heading to local rails next winter. This season also includes a ballet collaboration and a first for South African football: Orlando Pirates are taking to the runway.

What Does “Autumn/Winter 2027” Mean?
Fashion weeks show collections a season or more ahead, so buyers, retailers and media can see and order what will be in stores later. The AW27 collections on the runway this week are designed for autumn and winter 2027. That makes SAFW a chance to see South Africa’s cold-weather fashion trends months before anyone else.

Highlights To Watch
Orlando Pirates Take The Runway
In a first for a South African football club at SAFW, the reigning league champions will present “Field to Fashion” on Saturday, 24 October. SA Fashion Week describes it as “a collision of Buccaneers energy, street culture, and crafted SA design”. Pirates have worked with fashion before, including a seasonal jersey with designer Thebe Magugu, but this is their first appearance at SAFW.

Black Coffee x Joburg Ballet
Black Coffee, one of South Africa’s longest-running fashion labels, teams up with Joburg Ballet on Thursday night. The show brings dance and design together on the runway.

Gert-Johan Coetzee
Known for his dramatic red-carpet gowns, Gert-Johan Coetzee is the only show on Wednesday afternoon.
David Tlale
One of South Africa’s best-known designers, David Tlale presents “The Intern by DT” at an off-site, invitation-only show on Friday.
New Talent Search 2026
SAFW has run the New Talent Search since 1998. It’s open to young South African womenswear designers who have been in business for less than 10 years, and it has launched many local careers. This season’s competition is powered by JC Le Roux.
Ephymol Closes The Week
Ephymol closes AW27 on Sunday night with a denim-themed show titled “the new Jeanneration”.
