New Lottery Operator: What Changed on 1 June 2026
South Africa’s National Lottery is under new management. Sizekhaya Holdings took over from Ithuba on 1 June 2026, holding the fourth National Lottery and Sports Pools licence for the next eight years. Here’s what it means for Lotto players:
- Easier odds: the Lotto ball pool dropped from 58 to 52 numbers.
- New ticket price: a Lotto board now costs R5.
- Live draws are back: televised live draws returned from 2 June 2026.
- Cascading jackpots: if the jackpot isn’t won, it can cascade down to lower divisions the operator has committed to jackpots paying out at least once a month.
- Official website: results, claims and game rules live on the official National Lottery site, www.nationallottery.co.za, now operated by Sizekhaya. Corporate information is at sizekhaya.co.za.
