Johannesburg, On Tuesday 6th February 2024, Gauteng MEC for Economic Development, Tasneem Motara will preside over an important session in which Gauteng tourism’s latest performance figures and the impact of signature events hosted in the province will take center stage.
Scheduled to take place at the Kyalami Tshisanyama in Midrand from 11:00 till 14:00, this highly anticipated session comes just a few days after the release of the latest international tourism arrival statistics which highlighted a continued growth trend and assurance that South Africa is on track towards total tourism economic recovery.
At the heart of the Gauteng tourism growth and recovery plans, the hosting of quality global signature events consistently remains an important element of the Growing Gauteng Together Vision 2030.
From September to December 2023, the golden city region of Gauteng hosted amongst others the DSTV Delicious Food & Music Festival, Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, Home Coming events, hey Neighbour Festival and a host of other quality #SportingGP events and signature exhibitions and conferences.
MEC Motara and the Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA) will further provide an update on the progress made by Gauteng towards the attainment of over R30billion international tourism revenue, R10billion domestic tourism revenue and 1.6million international arrivals targets by the end of March 2024.
