Johannesburg, Gauteng MEC for Finance & Economic Development, Mr. Lebogang Maile will this coming Sunday 1st September 2024 at the Sanctuary Mandela Hotel in Houghton host a media conference to outline the Gauteng Tourism Month programme and related growth prospects.
With Gauteng accounting for over 44% (3.9 million) of the international arrivals into the country and generating over R42 billion annually in terms of foreign tourism revenue and spend and just over R18 billion in domestic spend, the province remains the undisputed catalyst and lead player in the South African Tourism sector and the broader visitor economy.
The Tourism Month programme will also serve as a blueprint for heightened domestic tourism promotion drive to reclaim lost ground and mobilize the private sector and hosting communities behind the revitalization of the golden province’s domestic tourism which has recorded serious decline.
The Sunday media conference will start at 10:00 at Sanctuary Mandela Hotel 413th Ave, Houghton Estate with members of the media expected to arrive at 9:30 for set-up. Kindly confirm your attendance and participation with Nonhlanhla Mbethe at 0824351649 or [email protected] by Friday 30 August 2024.
