Key Requirements for Applicants
PND I:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
- Basic qualification accredited by the South African Nursing Council (SANC), such as a Diploma/Degree in Nursing, allowing registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/Accoucheur.
- Post-basic qualification in Nursing Education registered with SANC.
- Proof of current SANC registration.
- A minimum of 4 years’ appropriate/recognizable nursing experience post-registration.
- Post Basic Qualification in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment, and Care registered with SANC.
- A Master’s degree in Nursing or Midwifery (candidates in the data analysis stage of research may be considered).
- Skills & Experience:
- Certificate in Assessor and Moderator will be advantageous.
- Strong communication, supervisory, report writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver’s license.
PND II:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Same requirements as PND I but with a higher level of experience.
- A minimum of 14 years’ nursing experience post-registration, with at least 10 years of which must be in Nursing Education after obtaining the Post Basic Qualification in Nursing Education.
- Master’s degree in Nursing or Midwifery (candidates in the data analysis stage of research may be considered).
- Skills & Experience:
- Certificate in Assessor and Moderator will be advantageous.
- Strong communication, supervisory, mentoring, coaching, report writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver’s license.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a Postgraduate Diploma Lecturer, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the education and training of student nurses in both clinical and theoretical settings. Your role will include:
- Guiding and supporting student nurses in their learning journey.
- Actively participating in the vision and mission of the college by engaging in meetings, committees, and activities that promote the college’s image.
- Implementing assessment strategies to evaluate the competency of students.
- Taking part in scholarly research and community engagement activities to enrich the academic experience.
- Curriculum development, review, and evaluation, ensuring the content is relevant and up-to-date.
- Exercising control over student nurses, ensuring their academic and clinical progress is maintained.
