Job Description and Key Responsibilities
As a Lecturer in the Postgraduate Diploma in Child Nursing, you will play an integral role in the education and training of student nurses, ensuring they receive comprehensive theoretical and clinical training. Your key duties will include:
- Education and Training: Facilitate the provision of education and training for student nurses in both clinical settings and theoretical modules.
- Guidance and Support: Support and guide student nurses, helping them grow and develop into competent professionals.
- Participation in College Activities: Contribute to the college’s vision and mission through active participation in meetings, committees, and other college activities.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Implement assessment strategies to evaluate students’ competencies and progress.
- Curriculum Development: Participate in the development, review, and evaluation of curricula to ensure the highest standards of education.
- Research and Community Engagement: Engage in scholarly research and contribute to community engagement activities within the college.
- Student Supervision: Exercise control over student nurses and ensure they adhere to professional and academic standards.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
PND I:
- Grade 12/National Senior Certificate
- A Basic qualification accredited with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) that allows registration as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/Accoucheur.
- A Post-basic qualification in Nursing Education registered with SANC.
- A Master’s degree in nursing (candidates in the data analysis stage of research may also be considered).
- At least 4 years of appropriate experience in nursing after registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/Accoucheur.
- Post-basic qualification in Child Nursing Science registered with SANC.
- Strong communication, supervisory, and report writing skills, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
PND II:
- Grade 12/National Senior Certificate
- A Basic qualification accredited with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/Accoucheur.
- Post-basic qualification in Nursing Education registered with SANC.
- Master’s degree in nursing.
- At least 14 years of appropriate experience in nursing, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Nursing Education after obtaining the required post-basic qualifications.
- Certificate in Assessor and Moderator will be an added advantage.
Desired Skills
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office applications.
- A valid driver’s license is essential.
