Job Requirements
To be eligible for the Lecturer role in the Advanced Diploma in Midwifery program, applicants must meet the following qualifications and experience criteria:
- Minimum Education:
- A Grade 12/National Senior Certificate.
- A basic nursing qualification accredited by the South African Nursing Council (SANC) under Government Notice R.425 (e.g., a Diploma or Degree in Nursing).
- Current registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/Accoucheur.
- A post-basic qualification in Nursing Education registered with SANC.
- A Master’s degree in Nursing (candidates currently in the data analysis stage of research may be considered).
- Experience:
- PNDI: At least 4 years of relevant experience as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/Accoucheur after SANC registration.
- PNDII: At least 14 years of relevant experience, with 10 of those years in Nursing Education after obtaining the Post Basic Qualification in Nursing Education registered with SANC.
- Additional Qualifications:
- A certificate in Assessor and Moderator will be advantageous.
- Proven communication, supervisory, report writing, and presentation skills.
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- A valid driver’s license.
Key Responsibilities
As a Lecturer in the Advanced Diploma in Midwifery, you will play a pivotal role in the education and training of student nurses. Your responsibilities will include:
- Education & Training: Facilitate both clinical and theoretical education for student nurses, ensuring that they meet competency standards.
- Support & Guidance: Provide support and guidance to student nurses, ensuring they receive a well-rounded education.
- Curriculum Development: Develop, review, and evaluate curricula to maintain high educational standards.
- Assessment: Implement effective assessment strategies to evaluate students’ clinical and theoretical competencies.
