Key Responsibilities
- Management and Supervision: Oversee the operations of the Student Counselling and Development Department, ensuring effective delivery of student support programs.
- Counselling and Support: Plan and manage learner counselling, life skills, and study skills programs. Provide guidance and support to students with personal challenges, ensuring their well-being and academic progress.
- Academic and Professional Development: Conduct presentations to enhance students’ academic performance and assist with their personal and professional growth.
- Policy Development: Contribute to the creation, review, and evaluation of policies relating to student support and development.
- Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to create an effective teaching and learning environment.
- Event Participation: Play a key role in organizing and participating in graduation and prize-giving ceremonies.
- Reporting: Keep detailed reports on all student counselling matters, ensuring effective communication across the campus and department.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
- Education:
- Grade 12/National Certificate or equivalent
- A basic qualification registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- A Degree in Nursing/Post-basic qualifications in Nursing Education and Nursing Administration registered with SANC
- Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing or Psychology level 3
- A certificate/proof of registration in Assessor and Moderator will be an added advantage
- Experience:
- Minimum of 9 years of recognized nursing experience post-registration with SANC in General Nursing and Midwifery
- At least 5 years of experience in Nursing Education after obtaining the relevant nursing education qualifications
- Additional Requirements:
- A valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of nursing procedures, SANC legislation, and Public Service Prescripts
- Experience in planning, organizing, and evaluating programs
- Strong communication, supervisory, and report-writing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of Human Resource and Finance management
Salary and Benefits
This full-time role offers a competitive annual salary package of R 713 253.00 – R 838 326.00 per annum, with additional benefits.
