    The Gauteng Tourism Authority is recruiting a permanent Manager: Corporate Communications, Stakeholder, International and Industry Relations, with applications closing at 16:00 on 18 September 2026. The position offers a cost to company package of R1 250 958 per year and is aimed at experienced professionals in communications, stakeholder management and international relations.

    The successful candidate will lead GTA’s corporate communications, international relations and stakeholder and industry engagement functions.

    What the Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA) Communications Manager will do

    The position carries reference number CSIR/2026 and is classified at Haygroup Salary Scale Level 18.

    According to GTA, the purpose of the role is to strengthen its reputation, industry partnerships, intergovernmental positioning and international cooperation.

    The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring consistent corporate messaging and alignment between GTA and provincial, national and international partners.

    Corporate communications responsibilities

    The manager will develop and implement GTA’s corporate communications strategy.

    Responsibilities include overseeing media relations, press releases, official statements and corporate publications.

    The successful candidate will also:

    • Manage crisis communication and reputational risk
    • Monitor media coverage and brand sentiment
    • Ensure consistent corporate messaging
    • Oversee annual reports, newsletters and briefs
    • Coordinate international tourism engagements
    • Support cooperation agreements
    • Manage stakeholder engagement strategies
    • Facilitate industry forums
    • Liaise with industry bodies
    • Analyse stakeholder perceptions and organisational positioning

    The role also includes supporting the integration of destination branding with GTA’s broader corporate messaging.

    International and stakeholder relations form part of the job

    The successful applicant will develop and maintain GTA’s international relations framework and coordinate bilateral and multilateral tourism engagements.

    The manager will provide protocol guidance for inbound and outbound missions and liaise with provincial, national and international organisations.

    Another part of the job involves identifying strategic global partnerships that align with tourism growth.

    Within Gauteng, the successful candidate will manage relationships with stakeholders and industry organisations.

    This includes maintaining stakeholder databases, facilitating engagement forums and supporting intergovernmental relations.

    Qualifications and experience required

    Applicants need a Bachelor’s Degree at NQF Level 7 in Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, Marketing, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field.

    A postgraduate qualification at NQF Level 8 will be advantageous.

    Candidates also need at least five years of experience in communications, international relations and stakeholder management.

    Experience working in a public sector environment and with Public Finance Management Act compliance is essential.

    Candidates should review these requirements carefully before applying because the vacancy specifically identifies both public sector and PFMA experience as requirements.
