Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport Vacancies

The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport is calling on qualified and committed individuals to apply for several contract-based positions within its Stakeholder Management Directorate. These roles are geared towards strengthening service delivery and rapid response operations across the province. Available Vacancies

1. Assistant Director – Service Delivery & Rapid Response

  • Location: Ekurhuleni
  • Remuneration: R468 459 per annum (plus benefits) | Level: 9
  • Contract: 12 months

Minimum Requirements:

  • A National Diploma (NQF 6) or a Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Public Administration and Management
  • 3–5 years’ experience in service delivery or rapid response fields
  • Valid Driver’s Licence (Code 8/10)

Key Competencies:
Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of GP and GPDRT policies, Public Service Regulations, service-level agreements (SLAs), conflict resolution, diversity management, and community relations.

Primary Duties:
The successful candidates will be responsible for implementing public and stakeholder engagement strategies, managing integrated service delivery programmes, identifying and responding to service delivery risks, and coordinating rapid response efforts. Resource management (finance, human capital, and assets) will also form a core component of the role.

2. Deputy Director – Service Delivery & Rapid Response

  • Locations: Ekurhuleni, Tshwane, Johannesburg
  • Remuneration: R896 436 per annum (all-inclusive package) | Level: 11
  • Contract: 12 months

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Public Administration or Management
  • 3–5 years’ relevant experience, including 3 years at junior management or Assistant Director level

Key Competencies:
Candidates must possess extensive knowledge of GPDRT policies, legislative frameworks, GPG political structures, stakeholder management, and strategic planning.

Primary Duties:
This role involves overseeing public participation initiatives, implementing multi-municipality service delivery plans, liaising with law enforcement to prevent disruptions, and maintaining an intelligence-led response system. Deputies will also compile quarterly community profiles to guide provincial programmes.

3. Chief Administrative Clerk – Service Delivery & Rapid Response

  • Number of Posts: 11
  • Location: Ekurhuleni
  • Remuneration: R325 101 per annum (plus benefits) | Level: 7
  • Contract: 12 months

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate (NQF Level 4)
  • At least 3 years of relevant administrative experience

Key Skills and Knowledge:
Applicants should be computer literate and demonstrate effective planning, communication, interpersonal skills, and a good understanding of public service legislative frameworks.

Primary Duties:
This position entails supervising general clerical and administrative support services, supply chain support, personnel and financial administration within the sub-directorate. Clerks will also compile performance reports and coordinate administrative functions to support service delivery efforts.
