CSIR-Sasol Foundation Bursary 2026

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), in collaboration with the Sasol Foundation, is offering a comprehensive bursary aimed at supporting the education of South African students pursuing qualifications in critical science, engineering, and technology fields. The bursary is available for undergraduate studies in the following fields:

  • Computer Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering

  • Material Flow Analysis
  • Process Engineering/Life Cycle Assessment
  • Information Technology
  • Data Science
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Genetics/Cell Biology
  • System Engineering

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the CSIR-Sasol Foundation Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

For Grade 12 Learners:

  • South African citizen
  • Intend to enrol full-time for a degree at a South African public university
  • Must have a minimum of:
    • Level 5 in English
    • Level 6 in Mathematics
    • Level 6 in Physical Science

For University Students:

  • South African citizen
  • Planning to enrol full-time in 2025 at a South African public university
  • Must have passed all registered courses for the completed study period

Required Documents:

  • Updated CV
  • Certified copy of your South African ID
  • Latest academic record
  • Grade 11 final results (for Grade 12 learners)

Incomplete applications or failure to provide the necessary documents will result in disqualification.
