Edenvale is a gritty neighbourhood with a sizeable Italian community and high-quality delis and family restaurants. It is located a short distance from OR Tambo International Airport, making it an ideal stop-off on the way to or from the airport.
Driving down Edenvale’s main drag, Van Riebeeck Avenue, you can’t miss De Molen, a Dutch bakery owned by the same family for more than 50 years. In the 1990s, the De Molen bakery decided to open a pancake house and with it they installed a huge replica of a Dutch windmill, which is now one of Edenvale’s most distinctive landmarks.
For a different kind of kitsch you can head to Kota Joe for lunch, a fun roadhouse with larger-than-life menu billboards and giant stereo speakers playing catchy rock and pop music.
