GTA seeks to appoint the Executive Manager: Office of the Chief Executive Officer who will provide executive leadership and strategic coordination within the Office of the CEO, ensuring enterprise-wide alignment, governance compliance, stakeholder integration, revenue sustainability oversight and effective performance management across the Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA). The role serves as the CEO’s strategic integrator, overseeing corporate services, stakeholder relations and revenue sustainability functions to ensure seamless execution of GTA’s mandate.

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

The Executive Manager in the office of the Chief Executive Officer, will amongst others be responsible for:

1. Executive Coordination and Strategic Integration

  • Coordinate enterprise-wide strategic alignment across business units.
  • Oversee integration of HR, communications and revenue functions.
  • Provide strategic advisory support to the CEO.
  • Ensure alignment of operational plans with organisational strategy.
  • Drive implementation of Board and EXCO resolutions.
  • Monitor strategic risks and mitigation actions.
  • Ensure seamless information flow between governance structures and management.

 

2. Governance, Compliance and Risk Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with PFMA and corporate governance frameworks.
  • Oversee organisational reporting to the Board and oversight authorities.
  • Monitor policy implementation across the Unit.
  • Ensure compliance with King IV governance principles.
  • Oversee legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Support audit processes and implementation of audit findings.
  • Strengthen internal control and compliance culture.

 

3. Corporate Services and Organisational Performance Oversight

  • Oversee HR strategy and workforce planning.
  • Ensure effective performance management systems.
  • Monitor organisational culture and employee engagement
  • Oversee shared services efficiency.
  • Support transformation and employment equity targets
  • Ensure effective labour relations management.
  • Promote high-performance culture across the Unit.

 

4. Corporate Communications and Stakeholder Leadership

  • Oversee corporate communications strategy.
  • Strengthen stakeholder and intergovernmental relations.
  • Ensure consistent corporate messaging.
  • Manage high-level stakeholder engagements.
  • Support industry partnership development.
  • Oversee crisis communication preparedness.
  • Ensure positive brand positioning of GTA.

 

5. Revenue, Sustainability and Commercial Oversight

  • Oversee revenue generation and diversification strategies.
  • Monitor sustainability initiatives and funding partnerships.
  • Ensure financial viability of commercial initiatives.
  • Drive partnerships aligned to economic growth objectives.
  • Oversee performance of revenue streams.
  • Evaluate new commercial opportunities.
  • Report on revenue performance to the CEO and Board.

 

6. Leadership, People and Executive Management

  • Provide executive leadership to direct reports.
  • Set strategic objectives for the Unit.
  • Conduct performance reviews for managers.
  • Mentor and develop leadership capacity.
  • Promote ethical leadership and accountability.
  • Ensure succession planning within the Unit.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across business units.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The Executive in the office of the CEO post calls for a highly skilled individual who has a relevant Postgraduate Degree/Diploma at NQF 8 (Public Administration, Business Management, Business Administration, Governance, Economics, Tourism, Law or related field).  A Master’s Degree (NQF Level 9) and an Executive Leadership Development Certification will be advantageous. Knowledge of stakeholder management or executive offices coordination and management will be an advantage. A minimum of 5-8 years Senior Management experience, with a minimum of 3 years at Executive level. Experience in public sector governance and PFMA environment, proven experience in leading multi-functional teams and experience in strategic planning, stakeholder management and organisational performance oversight.
