Vaal River City Cycling Challenge takes place on 4 October 2026 at Caravan Park, one of the standout events on the Vaal River Carnival programme this season.

The Vaal River City Cycling Challenge closes out the Vaal River Carnival’s six-week programme with a cycling event based at Caravan Park. Following the same river-focused theme as the earlier F1 Powerboat Race and Vaal River City Marathon, the challenge gives cyclists a route through the Vaal Triangle to mark the carnival’s final weekend. It’s a fitting bookend to a programme that opened with a media launch in August and worked through comedy, arts, music, fashion and community events across Sedibeng. Recreational and club cyclists from across Gauteng are the likely target audience, with Caravan Park serving as the start/finish hub. Route maps, categories and entry fees are confirmed by organisers ahead of race day.
