Pretoria and surrounding metro areas can expect similar conditions with moderate southwesterly winds at 7 km/h. Humidity levels sit at 58%, making for comfortable autumn conditions ideal for outdoor markets and sporting events.

    Mpumalanga

Mbombela records the province’s warmest weather, with temperatures ranging between 15°C and 26°C under scattered clouds. The Lowveld region will experience light southwesterly breezes at 5 km/h, while the Highveld areas remain slightly cooler. Limpopo

Polokwane will remain under overcast skies with temperatures between 11°C and 20°C. The province experiences moderate southwesterly winds at 8 km/h and elevated humidity at 65%. Cloud cover persists throughout the day, though no rain is forecast. The Waterberg and Capricorn districts can expect similar grey conditions without significant temperature variation.

    North West

Mahikeng enjoys clear skies with temperatures ranging from 10°C overnight to 21°C during the afternoon. Northerly winds reach 12 km/h, slightly stronger than neighbouring provinces. Rustenburg and Klerksdorp will mirror these conditions, offering one of the country’s driest and sunniest Saturday forecasts. Humidity at 61% remains comfortable for outdoor work and recreational activities.

    Free State

Bloemfontein faces the only significant rainfall in the country today, with light rain showers moving through the province. Temperatures range between 11°C and 19°C, accompanied by northwesterly winds at 13 km/h. Humidity reaches 65% as the rain system passes. Residents in Welkom and the eastern districts should expect wet road conditions and reduced visibility during showers.

    KwaZulu-Natal

Durban will experience broken clouds with temperatures between 19°C and 23°C along the coast. Southwesterly winds strengthen to 18 km/h, creating choppy sea conditions. Pietermaritzburg and the Midlands sit slightly cooler, while humidity along the coast reaches 67%. The province remains dry despite the cloud cover, with no rain expected across the region.

    Northern Cape

Kimberley records broken clouds with temperatures spanning 12°C to 20°C. Strong northwesterly winds at 18 km/h will sweep across the province, particularly affecting the central and western districts. Upington and the Kalahari region experience similar breezy conditions. Humidity sits at 61%, with cloud cover increasing during the afternoon hours.

    Eastern Cape

Gqeberha will see scattered clouds with coastal temperatures between 16°C and 19°C. Westerly winds reach 12 km/h along the coast, while inland areas including Mthatha remain slightly cooler. Humidity climbs to 77% near the ocean, creating a damp feel despite the absence of rain. The province experiences typical winter-approach conditions with moderate wind and persistent cloud layers.

    Western Cape

Cape Town records scattered clouds with temperatures ranging from 14°C to 18°C across the metro. Southerly winds at 5 km/h remain gentle compared to other coastal regions. Humidity reaches 82%, the highest in the country, creating misty conditions in some suburbs. Stellenbosch and the Winelands experience similar cloud cover with slightly warmer inland maximums expected during the afternoon.

    Weekend Outlook

Sunday brings clear skies to Johannesburg with temperatures between 12°C and 18°C, offering stable conditions across the Highveld. The Free State rain clears overnight, leaving most provinces dry for the second weekend day. Mpumalanga maintains its warm trend with highs near 25°C, while coastal regions in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape continue under partly cloudy skies. Monday shows a slight warming trend across the interior, with broken clouds developing over Gauteng by Tuesday before clearing again mid-week.

    Weather Tips for Today

    • Layer clothing in Gauteng and Free State, where morning temperatures drop to single digits before afternoon warming
    • Carry waterproof jackets in Bloemfontein and surrounding Free State towns due to ongoing light rain
    • Secure outdoor furniture and equipment in KwaZulu-Natal and Northern Cape where winds exceed 15 km/h
    • Apply sunscreen in Mpumalanga and North West despite cooler autumn temperatures, as UV exposure remains moderate under clear skies
    • Drive cautiously on Free State roads where wet surfaces reduce traction during rain showers
