Blockbuster Boxing Day Opener
Defending champions MI Cape Town will launch the tournament against Durban’s Super Giants at Newlands, Cape Town. This matchup promises an electric start to the season. The early December start is a first for SA20, aimed at capitalising on the festive atmosphere and school holidays.
The excitement doubles on 27 December with the tournament’s first twin-bill. The Pretoria Capitals and Joburg Super Kings reignite their Jukskei rivalry at Centurion. ThePaarl Royals meet Sunrisers Eastern Cape at Boland Park in a coastal clash in Paarl.
Durban Lights Up Before New Year
Durban will be a hub of cricket action as Kingsmead hosts two high-profile matches in the final week of 2025. First MI Cape Town on 28 December, then the Joburg Super Kings on 30 December. Fans on the east coast can look forward to festive fireworks both on and off the field.
For the first time, SA20 has introduced New Year’s Eve fixtures. This offers fans the chance to celebrate in style. On 31 December, St George’s Park in Gqeberha welcomes Paarl Royals at 1pm. Later, Newlands stages a 5:30pm battle between MI Cape Town and the Pretoria Capitals.
2026 Kicks Off with a Bang
The cricket fest continues on 1 January 2026. On this date, the Joburg Super Kings take on Durban’s Super Giants at the Wanderers. League Commissioner Graeme Smith highlighted the special window for this season, saying, “We’ve built the schedule to maximise the festive season atmosphere, and for the first time, we’ll have matches on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.”
Betway SA20 Fixture List Spans Holiday Hotspots
From Johannesburg to Gqeberha, and Cape Town to Paarl, SA20 Season 4 will cover the country’s major cricketing centres. Matches will run almost daily from 26 December through to 19 January. Playoff week kicks off on 21 January with Qualifier 1, followed by the Eliminator on 22 January and Qualifier 2 on 23 January. Auction and Squads to Be Finalised in September
While the full fixture has now been made public, final team squads are yet to be locked in. All six franchises will complete their rosters at the next player auction. This auction is confirmed for 9 September 2025. Several local talents are eyeing international recognition, including potential IPL-bound stars. Thus, the auction is set to be a key event in shaping this season’s title race.
Festive Fun for the Whole Family
The early focus on coastal venues is no coincidence; organisers hope to draw holiday crowds to the matches. “It’s about creating memories during the festive period,” Smith added. “Whether you’re on holiday or enjoying a local day out, SA20 promises cricket, entertainment, and family fun.”
With anticipation building and the schedule set, all eyes are now on the squads and the summer showdown that awaits. Season 4 of SA20 is gearing up to be the perfect blend of sport and celebration.
