Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner Vacancies at Gauteng College of Nursing

The Department of Health in Gauteng is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner at the Gauteng College of Nursing (Bonalesedi Campus). Available in Grade 1 (PNB 1) and Grade 2 (PNB 2), this position offers a chance for experienced nurses to contribute to Occupational Health and Wellness Programs within the healthcare sector.

Key Responsibilities

The Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner will perform various duties to ensure the well-being of employees. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing Occupational Health Resources: Oversee resources to achieve the institution’s health objectives.
  • Providing Employee Health Services: Promote, protect, and restore employee health in a safe environment.
  • Developing Wellness Programs: Implement and evaluate Employee Wellness Programs (EWP) and Occupational Health services.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work with Human Resources to manage absenteeism due to illness or injury.
  • Program Development: Identify training needs and create tailored programs to improve health and safety.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

To qualify for the role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

For Grade 1 (PNB 1):

  • Educational Requirements: Matric (Grade 12) and a Diploma/Degree in Nursing. A Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health Nursing Science is essential.
  • Experience: At least 4 years as a professional nurse, including 2 years in Occupational Health services.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Audiometry, Spirometry, and Vision. Strong computer skills and experience with report-writing and presentation skills are also required.

For Grade 2 (PNB 2):

  • Educational Requirements: Similar qualifications as Grade 1, including Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health Nursing Science.
  • Experience: A minimum of 14 years in nursing, including at least 10 years in Occupational Health Nursing Science after obtaining a post-basic qualification.
  • Skills: Similar to Grade 1, with proficiency in Audiometry, Spirometry, and Vision.

Salary Package

  • Grade 1 (PNB 1): R476,367.00 – R559,548.00 per annum (plus benefits)
  • Grade 2 (PNB 2): R583,989.00 – R755,686.00 per annum (plus benefits)
