The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for the position of Lecturer in Nursing Education at the Gauteng College of Nursing (GCON). The successful candidates will contribute to the development and education of nursing students through academic and clinical teaching.

Lecturer PND I & PND II

There are 15 available positions for qualified and experienced nursing professionals to join the teaching staff at GCON. The positions are split between PND I and PND II, each with distinct experience requirements and associated salary packages.

  • PND I Package: R476,367 – R559,548 per annum (plus benefits)
  • PND II Package: R583,989 – R766,686 per annum (plus benefits)

As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality education to student nurses, coordinating clinical learning opportunities, and contributing to academic program development. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of nursing education in Gauteng.

PND I Requirements:

  • Matric/Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
  • Diploma/Degree in Nursing (R.425) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
  • Diploma in Midwifery and Nursing Education qualification registered with SANC.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Professional Nurse (with exceptions for those appointed from outside the Public Service).
  • Proof of current SANC registration.
  • Valid driver’s license and computer literacy.
  • Certification in Assessor and Moderator.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and report writing skills.

PND II Requirements:

  • Matric/Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
  • Diploma/Degree in Nursing (R.425) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
  • Diploma in Midwifery and Nursing Education qualification registered with SANC.
  • Minimum of 14 years’ experience as a Professional Nurse with at least 10 years in nursing education.
  • Proof of current SANC registration.
  • Valid driver’s license and computer literacy.
  • Certification in Assessor and Moderator.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and report writing skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver education and training to nursing students in both theoretical and practical settings.
  • Coordinate and supervise clinical placements and ensure alignment with the curriculum.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to students on their competencies.
  • Support and implement academic programs that meet regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to nursing research and community engagement activities.
  • Participate in continuous professional development initiatives within nursing education.
