General Worker Vacancy at Tshwane Municipality

Key Responsibilities

As a General Worker, your daily tasks will include but are not limited to:

• Clearing sewer blockages to ensure the smooth operation of wastewater collection systems.
• Excavating and backfilling trenches using manual tools such as shovels, pick axes, rakes, and rammers.
• Loading and unloading equipment, materials, and tools for plumbing tasks.
• Man and operate water pumping equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Assist in pipe repairs by aligning and fitting water pipe sections.
• Maintain workplace cleanliness, including washing vehicles and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

In this role, candidates will also need to follow the guidelines set by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993, ensuring a safe and productive working environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

To be considered for the General Worker role, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Basic literacy and physical health/fitness.
• Relevant experience in the maintenance of wastewater collection networks will be an advantage.
• Willingness to work shifts, standby duties, and overtime as needed.
• The successful candidate must undergo a criminal record check and have their fingerprints taken by the Tshwane Metro Police (at the applicant’s own cost).

Remuneration Package

The General Worker role offers an attractive remuneration package based on experience and qualifications:

• Salary: R159,936.00 to R186,936.00 per annum.
• Total Estimated Package: R236,535.00 to R270,901.00 per annum.
