- Older Persons Grant: Friday, 30 October 2026
- Disability Grant: Monday, 2 November 2026

Why SASSA Changed The November Payment Dates
SASSA’s original 2026/27 schedule, announced in March 2026, set the disability grant payment for Wednesday, 4 November 2026. That date was later proclaimed as the date of the local government elections, and President Cyril Ramaphosa declared it a public holiday throughout the country.
To avoid a clash with election day, SASSA reviewed the November payment cycle and asked National Treasury to approve new dates.
In a media statement issued on 14 October 2026, SASSA confirmed:
“The revised payment schedule follows extensive consultations between SASSA and various stakeholders to ensure that social grant payments continue to be administered efficiently, securely and with minimal disruption during the election period. Following these engagements, National Treasury approved the revised payment dates, paving the way for the implementation of the new schedule.”
SASSA said the change is “intended to support the smooth administration of social grant payments during the period surrounding the Local Government Elections.”

What If Your Grant Is Under Review?
SASSA has set aside Thursday, 5 November 2026 as a fourth-day payment specifically for beneficiaries whose grants fall within the review process.
SASSA reminds these beneficiaries to:
- Respond to official communication from SASSA
- Attend review appointments when requested
SASSA’s Advice To Beneficiaries
SASSA urged beneficiaries not to rush to SASSA offices unnecessarily, as grant payments will be processed according to the announced schedule.
To make collecting your grant easier:
- Don’t rush to withdraw on the first day. Your money stays in your account until you use it.
- Use your card to pay for groceries at supermarkets instead of drawing all your cash.
- Check your balance at an ATM or retailer before travelling.
- Only trust official SASSA channels for payment information.
Voting On Election Day If You Receive A Disability Grant
With grants now paid before election day, beneficiaries can focus on voting on Wednesday, 4 November. Here’s what to know:
- Vote where you are registered. You can only vote at a voting station in the ward where you registered.
- Special votes: Applications closed on 12 October 2026. Approved voters who cannot travel because of disability, illness or age will be visited at home by IEC officials on Monday, 2 November and Tuesday, 3 November. As 2 November is also disability grant payday, plan your shopping so you’re home when IEC officials visit.
- Assistance at the voting station: Voters with disabilities can ask for assistance when casting their vote. Speak to the presiding officer at your voting station.
- Bring your ID: You will need your green barcoded ID book, smart ID card or a valid temporary ID certificate.
