How Much Does It Cost to Hire FNB Stadium?
SMSA does not publish its venue hire rates, so the cost depends on your event, the date and what you need. The most widely quoted figures come from a 2022 interview in The Citizen, in which concert producer Sven Hansen estimated the costs of staging a major international concert at a stadium such as FNB Stadium:
- Venue hire: about R1.6 million
- Pitch protection: about R480,000 per venue
- Security: about R800,000 to R900,000
These are 2022 estimates for a full stadium concert, not an official price, and costs have likely risen since. Production (stage, sound and lighting), artist fees, staffing, cleaning and insurance come on top. For a current price, ask SMSA for a quote.
Smaller Events: Suites and Function Venues
You do not have to hire the whole stadium. According to SMSA, FNB Stadium has 195 suites that can be booked for dinners, receptions, conferences and celebrations, and the Presidential Suite can seat up to 250 guests for a dinner dance. SMSA prepares a tailored proposal for each function.
