The Tina Skukan Gallery is situated in the suburb of Faerie Glen in Pretoria on one of the last remaining small holdings in the area and forms part of the Bronberg Nature Reserve. The gallery is run out of an old barn, adapted by the owner to become a home for contemporary art and craftwork.
Not only does this gallery host monthly exhibitions by leading contemporary South African artists, there are also opportunities to take part in artist walkabouts and demonstrations.
The exhibition openings provide wine and refreshments and are always opened by the artist being exhibited or a prominent guest speaker. These openings have become well known in the artist world and are well worth attending. Displayed works range from mixed media to watercolours, pastels and sculptures.
The latest addition to the main gallery is the Tina Skukan Fibre section featuring wearable art. It houses hand embroidery, hand-spun cloth, vintage clothing, hand-painted fabric, hand-printed fabric and artisanal jewellery.
There is also an adjacent sculpture tea garden and coffee shop offering refreshments and light meals. Free-roaming geese add to the country farm vibe.
