Located on Walter Sisulu Square of Dedication in the heart of the historic Kliptown area of Soweto, the Soweto Hotel & Conference Centre is the only 4-star hotel in the township and is an ideal venue for visitors who wish to spend the night in comfort and style.
The hotel’s three conference venues, two of which are named after female liberation struggle icons, can accommodate between 10 and 50 guests and are all fully equipped with audio visual and IT equipment. The hotel has 46 Deluxe Standard rooms and two Presidential Suites all equipped with televisions, internet connectivity and in-room safes.
The hotel decor pays homage to the unique history of Soweto. Enlarged vintage photographs of struggle icons like Walter Sisulu and Nelson Mandela hang on the walls and the rooms have quirky detailing such as blankets made from traditional African fabrics and colourful beaded bowls and ceramic vases made by local craftspeople.
Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Jazz Maniacs restaurant which serves traditional township inspired cuisine that has been given a contemporary twist. Opposite the entrance to the hotel is the Kliptown Museum which tells the story of the famous Congress of the People and the presentation of the Freedom Charter which took place in this very location in 1955. Other key heritage sites such as the Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum are an easy 15 minute drive away.
