Arts on Main in Johannesburg CBD is Maboneng Precinct’s pioneering development and the heart of this lively neighbourhood, converted from historic warehouses and industrial buildings into artist studios, galleries and quirky shops.

The complex houses the studio space of leading contemporary artists William Kentridge  Mikhael Subotzky, and Kim Lieberman, and art galleries such as GoetheOnMain, NIROXprojects, David Krut Projects, and Parts&Labour Design Studio.

Look out for merchandisers LoveJozi, Black Coffee, and duke&dutch, or take time out for a meal and beverage at Canteen, SMACK! Republic, or simply head for Market on Main held every Sunday, a lively and stylish shopping and eating destination for locally produced design items, vintage clothing and a wide variety of food options. It's also a day to join the salsa dancers on the rooftop of Canteen, the courtyard restaurant.

Above the ground floor is ‘I was shot in Joburg :)’ a store set up to teach former street children photography skills. Buy their beaded picture frames and photographic work emblazoned on a range of gift items.
