Description

Live jazz performance, illustrative of The Marabi Club in Johannesburg

Tucked into the David Adjaye-designed Hallmark House on Maboneng’s edge, The Marabi Club is one of Johannesburg’s most atmospheric dining experiences and a memorable evening stop near the 702 Jozi My Jozi Walk the Talk route. Named for the marabi jazz culture of 1920s and 1930s Johannesburg, it recreates a speakeasy supper-club mood with art-deco furnishings, low lighting, a cocktail bar and cigar lounge, and nightly live jazz from South African musicians.

The kitchen at The Marabi Club turns out a refined, seasonally evolving menu built on local produce, designed to be savoured over a long evening of music. It is an intimate, dress-up destination rather than a casual drop-in, and reservations are essential. For visitors wanting to pair fine dining with authentic live jazz near the inner city, it is a standout choice.
