PSL Transfer News: List of Clubs Who Released Players

As the Betway Premiership transfer window in the country nears its end, clubs are busy finalising squads, with several players released or moving on. Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and Kaizer Chiefs have all been active in reshaping their squads, while other teams have also seen key exits.

Here’s a breakdown of confirmed departures so far:

  • Mamelodi Sundowns – 7 players released
  • Orlando Pirates – 7 players departed
  • Kaizer Chiefs – 6 players released
  • SuperSport United – 1 player confirmed
  • Stellenbosch FC – 2 players
  • Polokwane City – 1 player
  • Cape Town Spurs – 2 players

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Squad Moves

Sundowns have been proactive, signing Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC to bolster an already strong left-back roster. However, several players, including Sifiso Ngobeni and Rushine de Reuck, have moved on, while others like Peter Shalulile and Khuliso Mudau have contracts nearing expiration, leaving uncertainty about their future.

Orlando Pirates Shake-Up

The Buccaneers have made headlines by bringing in Sipho Mbule from Sundowns and several other signings, including Oswin Appollis and Abdoulaye Mariko. Departures include Mohau Nkota to Saudi Arabia and Miguel Timm to Sekhukhune United, among others. Nkosinathi Sibisi has been named the new captain following Innocent Maela’s exit.

Kaizer Chiefs’ Incoming and Outgoing Players

Chiefs have strengthened their squad with new signings such as Paseka Mako, Thabiso Monyane, and Ethan Chislett. At the same time, they have released six players, including former captain Yusuf Maart and Edmilson Dove.

Other Transfers to Note

Outside the “big three”, SuperSport United, Stellenbosch FC, and Cape Town Spurs have seen notable exits, while players like Lucas Ribeiro Costa and Relebohile Mofokeng continue to attract interest from abroad. Free agent Percy Tau also remains a key name to watch before the transfer window closes.

With the window winding down, clubs are balancing releases and acquisitions carefully, ensuring squads are competitive for the remainder of the season while also planning for continental and domestic challenges.
