New VW Polo Vivo GT Unveiled with Sporty Upgrades — But There’s a Catch

Volkswagen has lifted the wraps off a striking new take on the Polo Vivo GT. However, fans hoping to drive one off the showroom floor might leave disappointed. The Polo Vivo GT Concept, showcased at the recent Kyalami Festival of Motoring, is strictly a one-off study. However, it is not scheduled for production, at least for now.
A Sharper Look on the Outside
The concept is built on the top-tier Polo Vivo GT but receives a sportier makeover. It lacks mechanical enhancements. Riding on 17-inch machined silver Serron alloys, it features silver mirror caps. Gloss black finishes cover the B- and C-pillars, while bold red checkered flag decals stretch along the lower doors.
The standout upgrade comes at the back: a rally-inspired bootlid spoiler modeled after the Polo R WRC. This model dominated world rallying between 2013 and 2016. A full-width red stripe between the taillight clusters and red bumper accents complete the aggressive styling. The whole package is finished in a sleek Deep Black paint.

Same Cabin, Same Engine
Step inside, and nothing has changed from the standard GT. The familiar red-and-black cloth seats, nine-inch infotainment system with silver detailing, alloy pedals, and subtle piano black steering-wheel accents remain.
Under the hood, the story is the same. The GT Concept is believed to use the same 1.0 TSI engine found in the production Vivo GT. It pushes out 81 kW and 200 Nm to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. No tweaks to power or performance were announced.

Not Ready for Production
While the Vivo GT Concept drew plenty of attention at Kyalami, Volkswagen confirmed there are no immediate plans to put it into production. At most, certain cosmetic touches might filter into an expanded “black styling package” for the regular GT in the future. However, that’s still unconfirmed.
For now, the Polo Vivo GT Concept remains just that. It is a stylish concept car showcasing what could be, but with no guarantees of making it onto South African roads.
