Mamelodi Sundowns Just One Point from Securing PSL Title

Mamelodi Sundowns are within touching distance of claiming their eighth consecutive Betway Premiership crown after a dominant 3-0 victory over Stellenbosch FC on Sunday afternoon at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Tshwane.
With this emphatic win, Masandawana need just a single point from their remaining two matches to seal yet another Premiership title. The team currently sits on 67 points from 26 matches, a significant 15-point cushion ahead of second-placed Orlando Pirates.
Ribeiro Sets the Tone Early
The reigning champions wasted no time stamping their authority on the match. Brazilian attacker Lucas Ribeiro opened the scoring just six minutes into the clash, finishing off a well-worked move to net his 14th league goal of the season. Ribeiro has also registered eight assists this campaign, underlining his all-round contribution to the team’s success.
Rayners Doubles the Advantage
Sundowns doubled their lead six minutes later when Iqraam Rayners found the back of the net. The Bafana Bafana forward now has 13 league goals and nine assists, continuing his impressive form in front of goal.
Just after the break, Arthur Sales put the result beyond doubt when he scored the third goal in the 51st minute. The Brazilian-born forward has now scored six goals this season, along with eight assists to his name.
Total Control from Mamelodi Sundowns
The first half ended with Sundowns comfortably ahead 3-0, and the second period saw more of the same. The hosts continued to dominate proceedings and restricted Stellenbosch from gaining any momentum. Despite the visitors’ best efforts, they failed to make any impact against a well-organised Sundowns outfit led by Miguel Cardoso.
Title Within Reach
With two games left to play, Sundowns only need a draw from either of their upcoming fixtures to officially be crowned champions once again. Their remaining matches will see them travel to face Chippa United on Wednesday, 14 May before wrapping up their league campaign at home against Magesi FC on Saturday, 17 May.
Given their current form and commanding lead at the summit of the table, it seems inevitable that the Tshwane giants will lift yet another league trophy. Their consistency, firepower and solid team performances have once again set them apart in the domestic league.
Bafana Ba Style are not just inching toward glory — they are powering their way to it, with history firmly within their grasp.
