    About Kings of Jo’Burg

Kings of Jo’Burg is a popular Netflix original series that follows the Masire family, who control Johannesburg’s criminal underworld. The show blends crime drama with supernatural elements and explores themes of power, loyalty, betrayal, and survival in South Africa’s largest city. Since its debut in December 2020, the series has been praised for its gripping storytelling and high production values. The third season, released in 2025, continues to explore the Masire family’s challenges, including new threats and supernatural curses. The series is available exclusively on Netflix.

    Malik Yoba’s Role as Isador

In Kings of Jo’Burg, Malik Yoba plays Isador, an American man romantically involved with Connie Ferguson’s character, Veronica Masire. The storyline involves Veronica attempting to escape her troubled reality by moving to America, only to be drawn back to Johannesburg’s dangerous world. Yoba’s character adds an international dimension to the series and enriches its narrative complexity.

    First Time Filming in Africa

Although Yoba has visited South Africa several times, this was his first time filming on African soil. He expressed excitement about working with a “star-studded” South African cast and praised their talent and professionalism. Yoba noted that the production quality matched the high standards he is accustomed to from Hollywood, making the experience rewarding and enjoyable.

    How Yoba Joined the Cast

Yoba’s casting came through personal relationships rather than traditional Hollywood channels. Producer Samad Davis invited him to join the project, and Yoba accepted, appreciating the opportunity to be part of a South African production and contribute to African storytelling.
