Kaizer Chiefs to Lose Trio of Rising Stars This Transfer Window

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly on the verge of losing three promising young talents during the ongoing winter transfer window. Interest is mounting from other PSL clubs.

Ozoemena Headlines Potential Exits

Manqoba Ozoemena, a skilful and highly-rated midfielder, is said to be at the top of AmaZulu’s shopping list. The Durban-based outfit is now under the technical guidance of former Amakhosi coach Arthur Zwane. They are keen on luring the player to KwaZulu-Natal. Zwane, who worked closely with Ozoemena during his time at Chiefs, is believed to see the youngster as a vital addition. He thinks Ozoemena will bolster Usuthu’s squad for the 2025/26 campaign, which includes participation in the MTN8 and other competitions.

A source close to the negotiations revealed:
“Coach Arthur knows Manqoba very well and has already recommended him to AmaZulu management. He believes the player can make a significant impact this season.”

Shabalala and Zwane Also in Limbo

Midfielders Mduduzi Shabalala and Samkelo Zwane are two more rising stars whose futures at Naturena hang in the balance. Shabalala was once considered one of the brightest prospects in the squad. However, he is reportedly facing an uphill battle to retain his place in the first team. Meanwhile, Zwane is nearing an exit.

Both players’ situations have sparked speculation about whether they still fit into the club’s long-term plans under the current coaching structure.

Four More Faces Uncertain

In addition to the trio, four other Chiefs players are believed to be under review. There are no guarantees of them staying beyond the window. This potential shake-up suggests that the club is preparing to make bold decisions. They are reshaping their roster for the new season.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs appear to have missed out on a potential signing in Thibang ‘Cafu’ Phete. The experienced defender has spent time in Portugal and the UAE. He seems more likely to join Sekhukhune United, according to reports. Despite having four Bafana Bafana caps to his name, Phete has not agreed to terms with Chiefs. Questions may be raised about whether the club’s management did enough to secure his signature.
