Integrated Rail Services to Loftus Versfeld

Fans can board the Gautrain at any of its seven stations between Hatfield and Park Stations — Hatfield, Pretoria, Centurion, Midrand, Marlboro, Sandton, and Rosebank. Alternatively, they can start from OR Tambo International Airport with a transfer at Sandton Station. The Gautrain will transport passengers to Pretoria Station. There, they can seamlessly transfer to PRASA trains that run every 30 minutes directly to Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

PRASA trains will operate at 30-minute intervals, ensuring regular and reliable service. This will accommodate the large crowd expected for the game. After the match, PRASA trains will ferry spectators back to Pretoria Station. From there, passengers can reconnect with the Gautrain network for their onward journey.

Convenience and Safety Measures

To enhance the fan experience, organizers will station marshals at key transfer points. These include Pretoria Station, to guide passengers between Gautrain and PRASA services. Both Gautrain and PRASA, in collaboration with the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), will deploy security personnel. They will be across stations, trains, and the stadium precinct to ensure a safe environment.

Promoting Sustainable Urban Transport

This joint initiative underscores Gauteng’s commitment to integrated, sustainable public transport solutions. Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy highlighted the importance of such collaborations. They aim at reducing traffic congestion, lowering environmental impact, and promoting public transport usage for major events.
