Dean Burmester Cashes In with LIV Golf Chicago Victory and Team Triumph

Playoff Drama at Chicago

Burmester sealed his win in thrilling fashion, prevailing on the first playoff hole against Spanish stars Jon Rahm and Josele Ballester. All three finished regulation play tied at nine-under-par after three rounds. On the deciding hole, Burmester made a birdie three, while Rahm and Ballester could only manage pars.

Massive Payday

The victory earned Burmester a cool $4 million (around R70.88 million), marking his second career win on the LIV Golf circuit after triumphing in Miami last year.

His Stinger teammates also enjoyed strong performances:

  • Branden Grace – Tied 5th, earning $700,000 (about R12 million)
  • Charl Schwartzel – Tied 25th, earning R3.3 million
  • Louis Oosthuizen – Tied 29th, earning R2.9 million

The celebrations didn’t end with the individual win. The Stingers emerged victorious in the team competition, edging out Torque in a playoff after both sides finished on 17-under-par. The four-man South African side will split an additional $3 million in prize money.
