Betway Premiership Week One – Log Standings and Top Goalscorers

The 2025/26 Betway Premiership season kicked off with a bang as football fans were treated to drama, surprises and standout performances across the country. All 16 top-flight teams were in action over the weekend, producing six victories, two draws and 15 goals in total.

Newcomers Make a Strong Statement

Two of the league’s fresh arrivals wasted no time in showing they belong among the elite. Siwelele FC made the perfect home debut, brushing aside Golden Arrows 3-1 in front of a lively crowd. Their quick, attacking football proved too much for the visitors, signalling they could be a dangerous side this season.

Durban City, under the experienced guidance of Gavin Hunt, also made headlines. They stunned TS Galaxy with a convincing 2-0 away victory, giving their fans hope of a solid campaign ahead. The only disappointment among the newcomers came from Orbit College, who were narrowly beaten 1-0 by AmaZulu.

Champions and Giants Stumble Early

Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns were expected to start their title defence with three points, but Chippa United had other plans. The Gqeberha outfit held their own and earned a commendable 1-1 draw against Miguel Cardoso’s side, reminding the rest of the league that the champions can be challenged.

It was a tough start for Orlando Pirates, who suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Sekhukhune United. The Buccaneers struggled to break down a well-organised defence, leaving their fans frustrated.

Kaizer Chiefs Off to a Winning Start

On Sunday, Kaizer Chiefs delivered a confident performance away to Stellenbosch FC, securing a 2-0 victory. Goals on either side of half-time ensured a smooth start for Nasreddine Nabi’s men, who will look to build momentum in the weeks ahead. The result has already sparked optimism among the Amakhosi faithful.

Betway Premiership Log Standings

While it’s still too early to make big predictions, the opening weekend has given a glimpse of what might be in store this season. Siwelele FC’s strong start sees them share the early top spots with Durban City, Kaizer Chiefs and Marumo Gallants – all sitting on three points after impressive wins.

On the other end, Golden Arrows, TS Galaxy, Stellenbosch, Orlando Pirates, Magesi FC and Orbit College are already playing catch-up after opening defeats.
