The Anti-Gang Crackdown remains a top priority for authorities, as they continue to address the root causes of crime and respond to the concerns of local residents.

Details of the Anti-Gang Crackdown Operations

On Saturday, June 14, the Anti-Gang Unit executed two coordinated operations. In Newclare, officers patrolled Dowling and Hamilton Avenue, where they stopped a 21-year-old man. During the search, police discovered an unlicensed firearm with its serial number filed off. As officers attempted to arrest the suspect, his parents intervened, physically pulling him away from police. The situation escalated quickly, with community members throwing stones at police vehicles. Officers called for backup and fired a warning shot to disperse the crowd, regaining control of the scene. Ultimately, police arrested the suspect for illegal possession of a firearm and charged his parents with malicious damage to property and obstructing law enforcement.

Eldorado Park: High-Speed Pursuit and Arrest

Meanwhile, in Eldorado Park Extension 1, the Anti-Gang Crackdown continued with the pursuit of suspects in a stolen Ford Figo. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Mondeor. When police attempted to intercept the suspects, they responded by opening fire and fleeing on foot. Officers managed to apprehend a 43-year-old man, while two others escaped and remain at large. All four individuals arrested during these operations will soon appear in court as investigations proceed.
