Resonance Archive Festival 2025

Eyethu Heritage Hall is deeply honoured to partner with the Resonance Archive Festival 2025.

This year’s activation holds special meaning as it coincides with the founding anniversary of the iconic Eyethu Cinema on 30 August. We proudly honour the vision and legacy of our founders, Ephraim “Mshengu” Tshabalala and Caroline Kinini “CK” Tshabalala, whose courage and creativity established a cultural landmark in Soweto’s history.

In collaboration with Resonance, we join in the powerful exploration of memory, resistance, archive, and Black cinematic futures, themes that have always been woven into the DNA of Eyethu. Our programme will feature a walk of remembrance on the 30th August, from 11:00, thought-provoking screenings and panel discussions, a vibrant community market, and dynamic live activations, all designed to celebrate heritage, inspire dialogue, and ignite new possibilities.

Our line-up will include the Music Archive Pop-up: Music Theatre Classics on 28 and 29 August.

On Saturday and Sunday, we will host special ticketed screenings:

Saturday Programme

  • 13H00 – Charlie Steel followed by Q&A
  • 15H00 – Actors on Actors
  • 18H00 – Screening of How Long

For Eyethu Heritage Hall, this partnership is not only an honour, it is a continuation of our commitment to keeping our history alive while shaping the cultural futures of generations to come.
