The African Bank Soweto Marathon, known as “The People’s Race,” takes place on Saturday, 29 November 2025, starting at 05:30 from Johannesburg Expo Centre (Nasrec), Soweto.
Runners can choose from the 42.2km marathon (05:30 start), 21.1km half-marathon (06:30), or 10km race (07:30), passing iconic landmarks like Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Walter Sisulu Square, Regina Mundi Church,
Credo Mutwa Cultural Village, Morris Isaacson High School & June 16 Memorial, Vilakazi Street, and Hector Pieterson Memorial.
Entry fees remain affordable at R380 (42.2km), R300 (21.1km), and R280 (10km), with equal prize money for men and women—top 42.2km winner takes R250,000.
