Gilroy’s Brewery is a renowned microbrewery and restaurant located in Ngwenya Glass Village, Muldersdrift, Gauteng.
Founded in 2000 by Ireland-born Liverpudlian Steve Gilroy, it stands as one of South Africa’s pioneering craft beer producers, known for its award-winning handcrafted ales and lagers.
The brewery crafts five styles of beer, including a lager, pale ale, ruby ale, dark ale, and recently introduced ginger beer, all naturally carbonated without preservatives, served at cellar temperature following traditional English beer style.
The brewery’s “elegantly rustic” British-style pub and beer garden offer live music, big screen sports, and a vibrant atmosphere enhanced by Steve Gilroy’s engaging poetry performances on weekends.
Awarded Best Tourism Establishment in the West Rand in 2015, Gilroy’s is a popular destination for both locals and visitors seeking quality craft beer experiences combined with hearty pub fare.
The brewery is approximately 45 minutes from Johannesburg’s city centre and includes a gift shop and regular beer tours (booking advisable).
