Ancient Odysseys Paleontology and Archaeology Dig Trips

Share

Description

Join in the hands-on excavation at the Cradle of Humankind for the trip of a lifetime!

If you’ve ever dreamed of excavating at the site that is home to 40% of the world’s human ancestor fossils-here’s your chance. You’ll be trained and working right alongside researchers at the renowned Sterkontein and Kromdraai Caves for a hands-on excavation. Among the astonishing discoveries made here are the earliest known members of our human genus—Paranthropus robustus—extinct hominins which are believed to be the closest human relative.

Other iconic finds include Mrs. Ples and Little Foot, two Australopithecus africanus specimens that have allowed researchers to bridge the evolutionary gap between ancient ape and modern humans. There is a very real chance that you will help find more new species!
