Description

The Sterkfontein Caves, part of the Cradle of Humankind UNESCO World Heritage Site, are world-renowned for their rich fossil discoveries that have significantly shaped our understanding of human evolution.

These caves have yielded over 500 hominid fossils, including the famous adult Australopithecus africanus specimen known as “Mrs. Ples”, and the nearly complete skeleton called “Little Foot”, estimated to be around 3.7 million years old.

Visitors can explore the caves through guided tours that reveal the scientific and historical significance of these ancient remains, making Sterkfontein a premier destination for both scholars and tourists interested in the origins of humanity.
